one month of wilder girls
WILDER GIRLS has officially been out in the (oh god) (it's happening) (i know i did this last time but it's just so easy) WILD for a MONTH!!!! it has spent all four weeks on the NYT and indie lists and i have spent all four being just the most grateful dumbass in the whole world!!!!!
it's been a weird month - i was away from home for most of it, traveling and working at a summer camp in south carolina. when i finally got back to my house i was pretty confident that publishing my debut had left me Totally Good, Totally Fine, Very Well Adjusted, Etc Etc Etc, and then i didn't go outside for six days. let me be the millionth person to say that publishing a book is hard and it messes with your head and it leaves you feeling vulnerable but that vulnerability is like... literally THE POINT and you really just have to deal with it and also leave the house to go grocery shopping because we're out of trash bags.
i've also spent this month wrapping up my next book, a new standalone coming in 2020. there'll be more i can tell you later but in brief: the book has been an absolute pain in the ass to get right but it's finally finally something a person could read. a few more days of smoothing and clean up and it will hopefully be off to next steps. cross all your fingers for me.
i've got some travel coming - full event schedule on my website, v soon ones highlighted below. i hope i see you sometime this fall! and THANK YOU to all of you for picking up WG, for reading it, for picking it up but not reading and leaving it on your nightstand, for not picking it up but you passed a bookstore and were like hey i think i have like... a facebook friend? or something? who has a book out?
