one month of burn our bodies down
hello hi i promised a "mildly unhinged" newsletter and i am HERE to DELIVER
anyway it's been a month since burn our bodies down came out which a) lmao and b) LMAOOOOOOOO i would like to conduct a scientific experiment to see if time has actually passed since march because personally i believe it has not BUT that it is also somehow 2064 and i am approaching the sweet release of death
burn was a difficult book to write (for proof see also: assorted online whining throughout 2019, the first line of its acknowledgments, my general malaise) but it has been very Very rewarding to see the book go out into the world and find readers. i've been delighted to see people be grossed out by certain aspects but also been really gratified to know that the emotional core of the book, an arc about realizing that you don't have to be part of the generationally traumatic patterns that came before you, has found people to resonate with. if you've picked it up, thank you, and if you haven't, that's chill, but also..... like.... what if you did? consider.
i have a couple events coming up in support of this book and other wonderful titles that came out this summer! if you want to hear me ramble on zoom you can find details on my socials about whatever is coming up next. i would tell you in this newsletter but i honestly have no idea what the schedule is unless i am looking directly at it. it's entirely possible i should be in an event right now.
i hope you and yours are staying safe and well. i myself am filling my days with my new cat scallion who is incredibly ugly and also all 50 entries in PEOPLE'S MOST BEAUTIFUL issue if they still do those, and also with work on my next YA. it hasn't been announced yet but between us it is a book and it has stuff in it, including science and hubris. excited to have more specifics to tell you soon!
and while i'm here - this summer has seen a number of amazing books come out and i've spotlighted a couple of my favorites below (scroll past the image of my own cover which i've included in case you forgot what the book looks like and also would like to buy a copy just click the link so easy so simple look at you supporting the arts TM)
